DESCRIBE HOW YOU FIRST GOT INTERESTED IN SNOWBOARDING:
I wanted to be a surfer, like the girls in the Roxy ads, but I was from Manitoba so snowboarding was the most feasible option. I also really like the Wildcats.
What keeps you snowboarding today?
It's so fun, I like scaring and challenging myself everyday.
What do you get up to when you aren’t snowboarding?
I love to bike ride, run, read, crosswords, work at Starbucks, things like that.
Describe the perfect day:
I live it once...wake up with an early morning surf and then head up the the mountains and snowboard, with my best bud of course; so amazing.
Have you had any injuries or situations that have made you re-think your lifestyle?
I tore my ACL and had knee surgery one year. I was pretty poor at the time so it was a major financial strain. It made me wonder whether snowboarding was worth a lot of the sacrifices one has to make to be successful in the industry, but the day I got back out there I realized it totally is!
Contests and freeriding…describe likes and dislikes of both:
I am a competitive person. Contests keep me learning new tricks and challenging myself in the park. I also think that being successful in high profile contests such as the Olympics opens up accessibility to a broader demographic. If you stand for something and really want to make a difference, it can give you the opportunity. Freeriding...well it's free and there is nothing better than that!
Where do you want to be in 10 years?
I would love to have a successful snowboarding career to look back on, be a music therapist and have amazing family and friends surrounding me.
